About Plaster Reinforcement Net
Plaster Reinforcement Net is a lightweight HDPE mesh embedded within cement plaster at critical junctions and over large wall and ceiling spans to prevent the hairline cracks that commonly appear as buildings settle and materials expand and contract with temperature changes. It acts as a stress-distribution layer, absorbing differential movement between dissimilar substrates.
The net is laid directly onto the base surface before plaster application — at wall-to-ceiling junctions, column-to-wall interfaces, beam bottoms, window and door frame perimeters, and across large uninterrupted wall panels where shrinkage cracks are most likely. A 6–8 mm base coat of plaster is applied over the mesh, embedding it fully within the plaster matrix. The finish coat is applied once the base coat has cured.
Manufactured from 100% virgin HDPE, the mesh is alkali-resistant and will not corrode or degrade within the cement plaster environment — unlike steel mesh which can rust and cause staining and spalling. The black colour makes the mesh easy to verify during inspection before the finish coat is applied.
Standard size is 1.0 m width × 25 m roll length, suitable for most residential and commercial building projects. The 1.0 m width covers a full wall height in a single strip with minimal overlap joints. Rolls are lightweight and easy for plastering crews to handle on scaffolding and at ceiling height.
Applications include residential apartment and villa construction, commercial and office building interiors, hotel and hospitality projects, hospital and institutional buildings, renovation and repair work on cracked plaster surfaces, and any project where the architect or engineer specifies mesh reinforcement at plaster junctions and over wide spans.
