Geo Net

Geo Net from Tirumala Industries is a high-strength HDPE mesh used in civil engineering and construction for soil stabilization, slope protection, erosion control and ground reinforcement. The open mesh structure allows vegetation to grow through while mechanically reinforcing the soil mass — making it a cost-effective alternative to concrete and gabion solutions on many sites.

Available in three thickness grades — 4 mm, 5 mm and 6 mm — to match project load requirements. Four-millimetre net suits light erosion control and landscaping applications; 5 mm is the standard for highway embankments and moderate slopes; 6 mm handles heavy-duty slope protection, rock-fall containment and high-load reinforcement scenarios.

Manufactured from 100% virgin HDPE with UV stabilization, the net maintains tensile strength and dimensional stability through years of exposed site conditions. The black colour provides UV resistance and a neutral appearance that blends with soil and vegetation. Rolls are available in 2 m and 3 m widths, in 25 m and 50 m lengths, for efficient coverage of large slope areas.

Installation typically involves clearing and grading the slope, laying the geo net roll by roll with overlaps of 10–15 cm between adjacent panels, and securing with U-pin anchors, soil nails or rock bolts at a grid spacing specified by the site engineer. On steep slopes, the net is often combined with hydroseeding or coir matting to establish vegetation that provides long-term root reinforcement.

Applications include highway and railway embankment stabilization, hill slope erosion control, road cutting and tunnel portal protection, mining overburden slope management, landfill capping and containment, riverbank and canal lining reinforcement, retaining wall backfill stabilization, and landscaping on commercial and residential development sites.
